Linux Mint 8 "Helena"

mint The final version of the Linux Mint distribution has been released (codename Helena).

The new edition is based on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, kernel 2.6.31, Gnome 2.28 desktop environment, and Xorg 7.4. The new version also brings many changes and updates. This time, developers implemented support for OEM installation, added the possibility to define packages that do not have to be checked through a system update.

Linux Mint 7 RC1

The first release candidate version of Linux Mint has been released.

This version eliminates lots of bugs and brings significant improvements. The menu system is enhanced by a feature that displays additional hints. The application's manager highlights the most important programs. In turn, the upload manager supports both SFTP and SCP protocols.

Linux Mint 6

The final version of the sixth edition of Linux Mint distribution has been released. The code name is Felicia. Linux Mint 6 is based on Ubuntu 8.10 “Intrepid Ibex”. It contains kernel version 2.6.27, GNOME desktop environment 2.24 and the graphics subsystem X. Org 7.4. It also offers the new software manager, FTP support in mintUpload, proxy support and the history updates in mintUpdate. There is also available mint4win - a windows installer. There are also tabs in the Nautilus and many other improvements.
