ICANN changes rules of domains registration

Submitted by admin on 17 August 2009 - 10:49pm
ICANN has changed the rules of registration of Internet domains.

Once a domain is registered, it is possible to cancel the registration in case of errors such as typos in the domain name. However, more than a year ago the cancellation was free of charge. Unfortunately, this possibility was abused by spammers who used to register a lot of domains and then throw up pages full of advertising.

ICANN announced that they will not be able to keep the planned timetable for introducing the possibility of registration of new top-level domains, but also promised that the work will be completed later this year. With this rather revolutionary change in the domain registration policy, it will soon be possible to register not only the domain with the currently available extensions such as .com, .net but also with your own extension, for example: .google. or .ebay.

Now, you can comment on documentation and propose possible changes. Currently, it is possible to register domains with 21 gTLD extensions, such as, for example .com or .net.
