Chrome: beta for Mac in December

chromeAccording to earlier announcements, Google wants to release the first beta version of Chrome web browser for Mac OS X till the end of the year, but at the expense of many valuable features.

Developers decided to move several functions to the second beta version. The reason is that Google wants to release the browser before January 1, 2010.

Chrome Extensions open for developers

chromeGoogle has launched a website with plugins for Chrome. Currently, all developers can upload their own extensions. All Chorme users will soon be able to use them.

The launch of Google Chrome Extensions was announced by Aaron Boodman on a special mailing list, and Lei Zheng on one of the official Google Blog. Currently, it is possible to upload plugins, but it will soon be possible to download them.

Google fixes a seriuos bug in Chrome

chromeGoogle has released an important security update for Chrome browser. The latest version 3.0.195.24 eliminates a serious bug which makes it possible to run arbitrary code. The bug resides in the implementation of the dtoa function in JavaScript V8 engine. In a special situation, an attacker can run malicious code inside of Chrome (the sandbox). The attack may occur after visiting appropriately crafted web site.

New stable release of Chrome

chromeTwo weeks after the first birthday, the third stable version of Google Chrome has been released. The list of innovations is comprised mostly of performance optimizations – Chrome 3.0 is to be 25% faster than its predecessor when it comes to Javascript execution. Another novelty is a new look for blank cards – you can customize them to suit your needs.

Two bugs found in Chrome

As Google admits, two serious bugs have been found in the Chrome browser.
The first one, detected by Mozilla Security, resides in the V8 engine which is used by Chrome to process Javascript. As the result of Google's programmers mistake, it is possible to create a code, which enables attacker to take the full control over the victim's machine.
