gTLD documentation published
ICANN, the organization responsible for the management of global domain registration system, has published, on its website, the Draft Applicant Guidebook describing the concept, conditions and procedures relating to the registration of the top-level domains name (gTLD) - for example, such as .google or .microsoft. Now, you can comment on documentation and propose possible changes. Currently, it is possible to register domains with 21 gTLD extensions, such as, for example .com or .net. After the "reform", the ICANN will record any extensions, for example, the name of your company. The extension may also contain a non-English alphabet letters. ICANN is a non-profit organization and does not intend to make a profit on domain registrations, but the costs of such operation have been valued at 185 thousand dollars. Registration fees must cover the cost of the new system implementation that is more than 13 million dollars. ICANN stipulates that if the costs finally prove to be lower, the remainder will be distributed in consultation with community members.
