Windows Live ID supports OpenID
Microsoft has decided to be a supplier of the OpenID service (distributed identity management system in the internet), integrating it with its Windows Live ID.
What are the benefits of the OpenID? It allows you to use the same user profile in different services, shops or online portals. You really keep your profile in the place of your choice. OpenID is currently gaining popularity and Microsoft's decision is certainly an important element in the standard promotion among internet users. Microsoft joins such companies as Yahoo, AOL, Google, MySpace and the BBC.
The Redmond giant has launched a test version of the service. Full support for OpenID is planned in 2009. Currently supported protocol version is the latest one - 2.0.
