Free samples at iTunes Preview
In addition to iTunes, where we can buy music, Apple has also launched a website with a similar service. iTunes Preview has been working since last year, but now its customers can play samples before purchasing it.
Each song available in Apple e-store includes a 30-second sample which is encoded in AAC format, 44.1 kHz (300 kbps). You can listen samples directly from the iTunes Preview - just click the Play button available next to the selected song. In addition, the user can read a brief band bio, information on the album, as well as reviews and ratings of customers who have already purchased a given track.
Samples are available in the iTunes Preview due to recent Apple's purchase. Last year in December, the company from Cupertino acquired the Lala Media which offers the possibility to play music directly from your browser. What's more, Lala Media has an agreement with Google, whereby the sample tracks can be displayed in a web search.
