OpenID more popular
OpenID Foundation has informed that the number of IDs issued in this year exceeded 1 billion barrier.
OpenID is a universal account that contains information about our identity. By using OpenID we can log into all services that support this way of identifying the user. The most resent statistics show that the project is rapidly growing. Currently, the global logins can be used on 9 million sites - among them such giants as: Blogger, Flickr, Google, LiveJournal, MySpace, WordPress, Yahoo, Microsoft, Nokia and Facebook. Other big companies such as: PayPal, NTT DoCoMo, PBS are now preparing to implement the OpenID.
On this occasion, the foundation also presented an outline of plans for the next 12 months. Among the priorities for the further development we can find: an increase in the security of the technology, support for mobile phones, integration with browsers and operating systems and more effective promotion of the project.
