googleOn several occasions, we wrote about Google's numerous initiatives to simplify and speed up the use of the Web. After creating a new technology SPDY, it is time to implement a new tool. It is used to shorten links to Web pages.

A few days ago, Google launched a service called Goo.gl. By using the service, users can easily reduce the number of characters in an url. This is especially important when you want to post a link on a social networking sites such as Twitter where there are limits to the maximum number of characters in a post. However, in contrast to competitive solutions (TinyURL or Bit.ly), Google is not available as a completely independent tool. In other words, Internet users can not benefit from it by simply going to a specific web page. In fact, Goo.gl is embedded in other products of the company from Mountain View (Chrome toolbar and Feedburner).

It is worth mentioning that Facebook has already launched a similar service (fb.me) but the website is currently in the testing phase.
