RocketDock - cool applications bar

rocketdockCan Windows be really nice – this is a problem that Windows users have been facing for a number of years. Even the old Windows 98 could boast of modifications that changed its appearance. Users wanted to break away from the gray windows, blue stripes and inanimate pulpit with several icons. Today, when we already have sophisticated Windows 7 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard, the owners of older systems feel even more pressure to make their systems look nice. There are portals and forums bringing together the whole community involved in the modification of the original appearance of the system.

Advanced users often decide to change the entire shell. It is precisely this element that is responsible for displaying the Windows desktop, application windows, taskbar and icons. By default, these tasks are performed by the Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer). Fortunately, it can be replaced by another, non-Microsoft's shell. One of them can be bumptop. But what if I do not want to act so drastically? There is simple solution – RocketDock.

RocketDock works on unmodified Windows (though the modifications do not preclude its use). It is an animated applications bar - similar to that one used in Mac OS. You can put on it any program or shortcut and attach an icon (if you do not like the default one). Icons can be transparent and animated in real time.

More icons can also be added after the installation of one of the extensions in thematic groups. We can completely clean the desktop in this way.

Another interesting feature is the possibility to add so-called "docklets" – small applications that run directly in the dock.

RocketDock works smoothly even on weak computers. The program is free. In addition to themes provided in the standard package, on the project site you can find more sets of icons, themes, and a large selection of docklets.
