Top ten Internet moments of the decade
On the eve of the end of the year and decade, Webby Awards organizers decided to publish top ten moments from the world of the Internet.
Events have been ranked in chronological order. The first entries are thus occupied by the events of 2000: extpansion of the Craigslist outside San Francisco and the launch of Google AdWords. The next twelve months brought the following two essential moments: the launch of Wikipedia, and the bankruptcy of the Napster service.
The next significant event is an IPO of Google (2004). Another important moment accounts for the revolution in the world of video available on the Web – the common access to broadband Internet and the popularization of YouTube (2006). Organizers did not forget about the success of Facebook and Twitter (2006), the introduction of the iPhone for mass scale sale (2007), Internet based presidential campaign in the United States (2008) and finally Iranian election protests (2009).
