Firefox supports WebGL
WebGL is a new standard for displaying 3D graphics in a web browser window. Recently, the standard has been implemented in the WebKit engine. Now it is time for Mozilla. The latest test version of Firefox also supports WebGL.
WebGL specification was published just a few weeks ago at the Siggraph Khronos Group and creators of the most popular browsers are already working on the full implementation of the new standard in their browsers. WebGL allows you to view three-dimensional graphics in your web browser without installing external plug-ins. Standardization of the library is supposed to ensure that 3D graphics will be rendered in the same way regardless of the operating system or browser.
WebGL is available in the latest unstable version of Firefox (so called "nightly build"). To run the library you should open the browser's configuration panel (about: config) and set "webgl.enabled_for_all_sites" true.
The technology will be available in Firefox 3.7 which is expected to be released in mid-next year.
