Microsoft's propaganda

microsoftMicrosoft has prepared a training course for computer retailers. As we read on the first slide, after completing this course, the vendor will be able to explain why it is better to buy a new computer with pre-installed Windows 7 instead of Linux.

Microsoft informs that Linux has very limited support for webcams and devices such as iPods, MP3 players, printers and digital cameras. According to Microsoft, a vendor should also point out that Linux does not provide authorized technical support. Moreover, as we read on the next slide, Linux does not support most popular games - an example is World of Warcraft.

Obviously, the course is very biased. Linux may be more difficult (especially for a new user) but some commercial distributions, contrary to what Microsoft says, have official support. World of Warcraft, in turn, can be run on Linux through WINE.

The training ends with a quiz, which - as the training itself - is rather tendentious.

Microsoft has also prepared another training presentation for vendors. They are taught how to effectively discourage customers from the Mac OS. Apple is a serious competitor, therefore Microsoft published another special presentation which shows why Windows 7 is allegedly better than Mac OS.

As in the case of Linux training presentation, the new presentation is full of inaccuracies and biased opinions.

By the way, taking into account the market share Microsoft should rather train vendors how to effectively discourage new users from Windows XP rather than Linux or Mac OS.
