Norwegian company Opera Software has just released the latest version of Opera 10 web browser.
This release brings many new features that make Opera even more user friendly, secure, faster and compatible with the latest web standards.
Here is a list of all new features in Opera 10.0
Opera Turbo – new technology that enables fast browsing especially over slow and bandwidth limited networks. The technology uses data compression in order to send an receive data to and from internet servers.
Opera 10.0 also features new visual tabs and user interface design. Especially, new re-sizable tab bar is worthy to mention. The new user interface design was created by a well known designer Jon Hicks.
Many users asked for new speed dial. Now, you can customize the speed dial so that it fits your needs. You can choose between four to twenty-five favorite web sites.
Opera 10 is even more integrated with web services such as rss readers or web mail services. For example, by clicking the email address, Opera will open the composing page of your web mail service.
New Opera is equipped with completely new rendering engine that is up to 40% faster than the previous one. The new engine – Opera Presto 2.2 – has been optimized for resource intensive pages such as facebook or gmail. However, the most important new feature in the engine is the very high compatibility with the latest web standards which results in 100/100 score in the Acid 3 test. The new engine also supports web fonts, RGBA/HSLA color spaces. SVG rendering has also been improved.
The latest version also supports inline spell-checker. Opera 10 will underline all misspelled words. Since Opera uses a well known widely used Hunspell dictionary format, you can be sure that the browser uses the most updated dictionary with all modern words.
Developers should, in turn, appreciate the Dragonfly module, which now allows you to edit the DOM, and inspect HTTP headers directly from your browser.
