Will CentMail stop spam?

Yahoo has presented a new initiative to combat spam. CentMail is going to be a technology to certify e-mails and eliminate spam.

Although the new service will not be free of charge, it is not intended to bring profits. Everyone who will be willing to pay $5, he will get a pack of 500 virtual stamps. The company will transfer all revenue to a charity organization selected by a user. The stamp will bear the organization's logo and will be encoded and attached to outgoing e-mails. This is will be a kind of a certificate, so that the user will be sure that his email will be accepted by spam filters.

Yahoo, above all, hopes to combat spam. On the official website, CentMail explains why the initiative is likely to succeed. The most important reason is that even a small cost incurred for each message can discourage spammers who send millions of emails a day. Will the service become popular and help to stop spam? We will have to wait until CentMail is launched. Yahoo, unfortunately, has not publish any specific date so far.
