BitTorrent - the San Francisco company which still wants to earn some money on P2P file-sharing - decided to lay off about half its staff.

As reported by the New York Times, the newly appointed president of the company decided to dismiss 18 people. This comes after the company laid off 20% of its staff in August. BitTorrent is planning to close its Torrent Entertainment Network - a digital online shop, which was designed to compete with iTunes.

It seems that the new managing director Eric Klnker will focus on the BitTorrent DNA (delivery network accelerator), a service for businesses related to digital distribution of audio, video and games.
