Developers, who are working on the WebKit engine, provided a possibility to render three-dimensional effects in the browser using CSS. The efficiency of this solution has not yet been fully optimized but there is available the first full presentation that shows the potential of this solution.

Developers initially provided support for only two-dimensional effects, which have been used on the welcoming page of the Safari 4 browser. This solution was also adapted in the Mozilla 1.9.1 Gecko engine, which is used in Firefox 3.5. The next step was to enable three-dimensional rendering as well as the transferring rendering process to the graphics processor. For the first time such a solution was adapted in the iPhone 2.0 operating system.
