Microsoft, encouraged by the success of Spotify, decided to enter the music market. The company plans to launch a web site where users will be able to listen to music for free.

The idea of this project comes from the British branch of Microsoft. The service would a part of the MSN. Its director, Peter Bale, in an interview to Telegraph.co.uk says that music is an important aspect for Microsoft. According to him, Microsoft is already working on the project. Bale added that the service will be similar to Spotify, but Microsoft is still working on the business model for the new service. He did not rule out the possibility of using the site by Xbox users.

Spotify service – is highly successful in the UK allowing users to legal and free listening to music. The service database contains over 6 million songs. You can sort items by artists or albums, or you can create your own playlists. Spotify is blocking any possibility to save music to disk. Instead, each user will be redirected to the shop where he can purchase his favourite music.
