Microsoft has just presented the Web versions of Office applications – direct competition to Google Docs.

On the Microsoft's website, a video clip has been published, which presents the Web versions of Office applications, called Office Web Applications 2010. The video shows how to view and edit Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and OneNote notes. It is noteworthy that the user interface is almost identical, as in the desktop version of the Microsoft Office.

During the demonstration you can see not only Internet Explorer but also Firefox. Microsoft assures that the Web versions of Office applications can also run on Safari. Office 2010 Web Applications are also integrated with SharePoint sites. In addition, in another video Microsoft demonstrates a new application - Microsoft Mobile 2010, which allows you to view Office documents that are stored remotely on mobile devices such as the BlackBerry and iPhone.

For the moment, no details about the launch dates of the Office Web Applications and a list of functions are available.
