TmaxCore – a Korean company has presented a new operating system – Tmax Window. According to the company, the new system is 100% compatible with Microsoft Windows.

TmaxWindow, according to its creators, was developed withing 4 years and is based on specially created micro-kernel. The kernel contains some code fragments derived from Linux and BSD. According to official information, the operating system is fully compatible with MS Windows and MS Office but it can also run Unix applications. It is possible because the new system uses a special layer that provides compatibility with different operating systems. The special layer is supposed to be based on the Wine and ReactOS. The system includes its own database software (Tibero Tmax) for the efficient data management and several other applications, including media player. Security settings can be set for home or corporate user. The user interface is similar to Windows XP interface.

By the way, the company has presented both Tmax Office suite based on OpenOffice.org, and a Web browser Tmax Scoutor based on the WebKit engine but at the same time compatible with IE. The Tmax Office consists of: ProWord, ProCel, ProPoint and ProMail, which are equivalent to MS Office applications.

It is not known to what extent the information released by the Korean firm is true. Most information is in Korean and there are only available videos and slides from the presentation. There is no doubt that the creation of a system compatible with Windows within four years is a very difficult task (e. g. Wine was started in 1993 and ReactOS in 1998). In addition, the creation of a system requires extensive cooperation with many equipment manufacturers. We will therefore have to wait for further information. Meanwhile, more details can be found at the source website.
