Gazelle - new revolutionary browser from Microsoft
According to Microsoft, new browsers should not only display documents but act more like an operating system. Gazelle goes in this direction. It has its own special kernel, which is designed to protect and properly manage the browser's resources. Each website is launched as a separate process. By using this solution, browsers are supposed to be safer and run more smoothly. Unfortunately, the prototype does not perform best in performance tests.
The project is to show new way of development for web browsers, mainly to improve the efficiency and safety. Gazelle will not probably come out of the experimental phase, and the developed solutions will be used in the new versions of the Internet Explorer. Architectural details will be presented in August at the Usenix Security Symposium in Montreal.
