Linux breaks 1% threshold

According to statistics gathered by Net Applications company, for the first time, Linux has total market share over 1% of Internet users.

The actual share is 1.02%, which is a large increase compared to 0.90% in March. Next month, we will see whether it was a temporary or permanent increase. In turn, Windows XP systematically loses its share and in April the total market share was 62.21%. In March, it was 62.85%.

Vista is still gaining: 23.42% in March and 23.90% in April. However, its growth is not as fast as a year or two years ago. The combined market share of Windows is 87.90%. The Mac OS X share is reaching a value of 9.73%. It is also possible to notice a systematic increase in popularity of iPhone and iPod Touch (in April, 0.55% and 0.15% respectively).
