Mandriva Linux 2009.1
The latest Mandriva offers three new desktop environments: GNOME 2.26, KDE 4.2.2 and Xfce 4.6. The system is equipped with new and more convenient tools for installation and configuration. One of them is HDT (Hardware Detection Tool), which allows to examine the hardware configuration of your computer without booting the system. The second tool is Draksnapshot that is used to easily restore the system.
The new Mandriva is based on the recently released kernel 2.6.29 that has build-in extended support for ext4 file system as well as new device drivers for webcams and the new sound system for the Intel HDA sound card.
