Sun has released the new version of virtualization software -
VirtualBox. 2.2. The new version brings support for Open Virtualization Format, which is part of the DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force). Now, you can not only create virtual machines but also export them from the development to production environement. As a result, the interoperability between VirtualBox and other solutions that support OVF has been improved. In addition, the following features has been added: better optimization of the administrator, 3D acceleration for Linux and Solaris as well as support for 64-bit version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Also, the maximum amount of memory for the guest system has been increased to 16GB.
Since October 2007, VirtualBox has been downloaded 11 million times and 3.5 million users have registered the product. VirtualBox is free for home use.
