Web Office

During the PDC conference, Microsoft officially announced that the Web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote will be created.
Web Office tools such as Google Docs, are created with a view to sharing documents and simultaneously editing them by multiple users. At the PDC, Microsoft demonstrated two users working concurrently on a document OneNote 14. One of them was using the desktop version of OneNote and the second one was using the web version. Synchronization is possible regardless of whether it is used a desktop or a web version of the program.
Web based Office, though potentially could operate independently, is to be added to the traditional Office and will be available to customers who purchase desktop version. A version that displays advertisements is also planned. As one could expect, web version will be smaller than the desktop one. However, it still has many useful features. By using Silverlight technology, the web based Office will be able to show documents making use of the rare fonts, unavailable on a computer that is running the application. Test version screenshots are avialble.
